Velosmith Bicycle Studio was established in April 2011, initially occupying a modest 350 sq. ft space. From the outset, our priority has always been our clients, emphasizing open communication, humility, and a welcoming atmosphere. While these principles might seem straightforward for any small business, they are often overlooked. Our aim has consistently been to provide a truly exceptional experience for every client.

In 2014, we moved into our current location, a historic tavern dating back to 1870, complete with original hardwood floors and a pressed tin ceiling. Our commitment to clear communication, meticulous processes, and meticulous attention to detail has become our hallmark. The vision of Velosmith Bicycle Studio began to take shape in the mid-90s. During that time, high-end bicycles were typically interspersed among the general offerings of bike shops.

We believed that custom bicycles warranted their own dedicated space; a place where attention to detail was paramount and where design possibilities could be fully explored. This envisioned space would be centered around the rider's intended use and specific needs, ensuring that each bike's design revolved around them. Such an approach would enable riders to thoroughly examine their options and gain a comprehensive understanding of them. This envisioned space would embrace an artisanal approach to bicycle design, complete with color and material samples. The studio's focused nature would allow the staff to methodically design and build bikes while fostering creativity.

We are narrowly focused on delivering an experience. We do not have an inventory of bikes. Instead, we work closely with you to learn about your cycling goals and needs and from there we engineer a solution. We work with a small supply base, with whom we have decades of experience.
